The principals of KielStrand Capital have a long history of giving back to the community through contributions to and participation in charitable organizations. KielStrand’s approach favors multiplying its impact by marrying financial support with active involvement, often in a Board role. In its work with an organization, KielStrand emphasizes good governance, maximizing impact and intra-community coordination and cooperation.

Case Study:
In 2009, in response to the precipitous closing of the Boys & Girls Club of Tarrytown, KielStrand's President Theresa Kilman worked with a group of concerned community leaders to co-found Kids’ Club of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow. Kids’ Club raised funds and marshalled local resources to provide support for the under-served children of the two communities. As an all-volunteer organization, where 100 cents of every donated dollar funded programs, Kids' Club helped support the founding and ongoing operation of a community food pantry, after-school activities, summer camp attendance, college prep classes and pre-school programs. Importantly, Kids’ Club was the driving force behind the establishment of the local Community Coalition (C2), a monthly meeting of local non-profit leaders to exchange ideas, coordinate support and share resources.
